Queen sized bed that I designed and built for a client to stand out while still fitting in with the aesthetic of her Hingetown loft. Traditional joinery keeps this bed sturdy for many lifetimes and modern handmade couplers provide easy teardown and reassembly. Matching nightstands compliment the bed and simple open design allows for many configurations of lighting, charging and access to reading material.
Shown in solid natural Cherry with a satin finish
Bent laminated side rails connect to the top rail via pegged tenon and dado
Legs are lathe turned and mortised to accept lower rail tenons
Spindles are perfectly duplicated after many different procedures and installed to the top rail via pegged tenon and dado
Headboard, footboard and rails connect by way of Hanger bolts with custom milled UHMW washers That allow for even tightening of the 7/8 wide rails without being visible from the outside.
Mattress slats sit loosely over evenly spaced pegs. This allows easy tool-free breakdown and transport should the need arise.
Seemless insertion of side rail into leg mortise
Underside is as meticulously detailed and finished as the exterior.
Maker's mark on the back proves authenticity.
