Black Decker KW900EKA Review

Black & Decker KW900EKA review
Got the new router as a birthday present from wife. Already had a trim router but it lacked the power to do demanding jobs so got a bigger router.
You can find routers made by Indian, Chines and  many other International companies in the market. Out of all the available options I decided to go for Black & Decker KW900EKA as it is a value for money proposition at Rs 4600 you get a decent router with carry case and free bits. It offers the same features that you find in other expensive routers like BOSCH POF 1400 ACE. I always feel that Black & Decker makes true DIY tools as you don't have to buy additional stuff to start working. Had bought B&D KS900EKX Jigsaw and it too came with all the accessories.

I am tagging below a video showcasing the various features of this router sure will help you in understating it better.
Build quality of router is good the bottom parts and the base is made of die-cast metal.
The initial try was problem free but when I used it for the second time there was a slight issue as it started giving sparks from the Carbon Brushes with loud sound, It was a disappointment and I did not wanted to give router for servicing as it would have taken long time and also I knew how to fix this issue. So I opened the top of the router and sanded the commutator connectors, since then it has been working fine. I hope this was an issue only with my piece as otherwise I have not had issues with any other B&D gadgets .
It will not be wrong if I say that this thing cuts the wood like butter.

You get 6 carbide router bits of 8mm shank out of which 3 bits are trim bits with bearing. There is a 6mm, 6.35mm and 8mm collet.
I love the speed adjustment option. For trimming or cutting side profile in the wood one can run it at low speed this gives better control and very low noise. It has 6-levels of speed adjustment which varies RMP from 8000 to 27000.

Maximum plunge depth is 55mm you can modulate depth adjuster to set the desired depth of cut, you can also use 3 level depth stop to cut the wood gradually. Sometimes the router gets jammed in the plunged position and does on come up on releasing the lock, this happens when the depth level bar is compressed too tightly on the depth stop which tilts the base slightly and it does not come up, with little practice this small issue can be avoided.
I also have a Kennex KX6700 trim router which looks like a copy of Makita 3709 laminate trimmer.
Costed me Rs1850. This router is good for doing very small jobs like trimming laminate and chamfering the edges.
Motor is mere 350W due to which on making a big cut the RPM of motor falls which results in uneven cut and lot of vibration. Also it runs at a constant speed of 30000rpm which leads to a high and very loud sound.
